What is Commercial General Liability?
A CGL policy covers your business against financial loss from such risks as property damage, personal or advertising injury caused by your services, business operations or your employees, if you are liable. Typically, a CGL policy will cover the costs of the business’ legal expenses, and will pay all of the damages for which you have been found liable, up to the limit of coverage on the policy. A CGL policy has 3 main coverages: Bodily injury and property damage liability, personal and advertising injury, and medical payments.
Commercial General Liability can be purchased as a stand-alone policy, as part of a Commercial Package Policy (CPP), or a Business Owner Policy (BOP).Â
